Is your pet a nuisance to neighbors?

Definition of "nuisance" is the key to ordinance

By Thomas H. McKinney

It is often said that "dog is man's best friend," but on some occasions "dog is neighbor's worst enemy."

In discussing the city dog ordinance, many would agree that the definition of "nuisance" is the key to its implementation and enforcement.

We will be reporting our findings during the next several weeks as we walk through some of Northwest Greensboro's neighborhoods and talk to local residents about their own dogs, their neighbors' dogs, and the city's animal control ordinance.

Haley
Haley, though quite large, is a gentle and friendly Black Labrador.
Little Puppy
This young dog, Little Puppy, is part pit bull, but well-socialized and playful.
Gretchen
Gretchen, while very "snarly" towards strangers, is actally very gentle and playful with those she knows well.
Emma
Emma was rescued from the pound and wants to play with every person or dog that she meets.
